10 famous movies that will have a sequel or become series
It is often said that movie sequences are never good, but some of them have so marked our lives that they still deserve a try. It is also what some filmmakers have thought of trying to revive some cult characters of the past in the form of series, suites, prequel, remakes or adaptations on the big screen.

At ViralGog, we were pleased to prepare for you a list of films that were already very popular several years ago, and that will soon reappear on screen for our greatest happiness.

    1. Avatar
Director James Cameron is already working on four Avatar suites, the first part of which was released in 2009. Avatar 2 will finally be released in 2021, having been postponed several times since 2014. If this second part is successful, this film will be in direct competition with Avengers: Endgame to win the title of the biggest blockbuster in the history of cinema.

    2. Blade
At Comic-Con 2019, we learned that Marvel was working on an adaptation of Blade. This will be the fourth part about this character from the cinematic universe of Marvel, half-human, half-vampire. In 1998, the first film came out, starring Wesley Snipes, who took over the role in 2002 and 2004. However, this new film, due out in 2020, will feature Mahershala Ali, while Wesley Snipes will play the villain.

    3. Candyman
It will be the sequel of the famous horror movie released in 1992, based initially on The Forbidden, a tale by Clive Barker. The plot starts with a forbidden relationship between a former slave and a white woman, who then has a child with him. This man is savagely murdered, and then all those who pronounce his name five times in front of a mirror make him reappear and are gutted in their turn.
We know that one of the protagonists of this film will be Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, that we could see in one of the episodes of season 5 of Black Mirror. The film should be released on June 2020.

    4. The Chronicles of Narnia (Netflix series): 2005 - 2020
In 2018, Netflix obtained the rights to hepatology written by C.S. Lewis. This means that the popular streaming video service now has the free field for serializing the stories of the Narnia universe, initially told through seven books.
Disney only showed the first two parts of the show: The White Witch Lion and the Magic Wardrobe in 2005, and The Caspian Prince in 2008, which was not a great success and led to the cancellation of the continuation of the saga. The Fox studios also tried in 2010, with The Dawnman's Odyssey, but the revenue generated was not encouraging enough. According to information obtained by Netflix, we know that episodes are being produced. If all goes well, it will be possible to see the first out from 2020.

    5. Gremlins 3 (WarnerMedia series): 1984 - 2020
It will be an episode series titled Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, which will be released in 2020 as the original WarnerMedia series. The streaming company will offer a less dark version of this story, focused on the origin of the discovery of Gizmo and his family, in the direct line of the mythical film of 1984.

    6. Splash
The remake of Splash will feature Channing Tatum, who will play the role of a triton (or something similar to the mermaid played by Daryl Hannah in 1984). For her part, Jillian Bell will play the character of Allen, initially played by Tom Hanks. The original film shows how Allen is saved from drowning by a mermaid. Twenty years later, she finds the young man whom she has collected, she falls in love with him, and she gives him a choice to live with her under the sea or to follow her earthly aspirations. According to an interview with Jillian Bell, the film will be released in a few years, since the script is still being written.

    7. Remember ... last summer (Amazon Prime series): 1997 - date to be confirmed
This cult film, released in 1997, is a horror classic, and it had two sequels, one published in 1998, and the second one released directly on DVD in 2006. The first two films featured actors Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. play a group of teenagers who are killed one after the other by a mysterious fisherman armed with a hook. The 2006 film, despite its title, was not the result of the other two.
The good news is that Amazon Prime will relaunch this story in series, but has not yet confirmed which actors will appear, nor the expected release date.

    8. Matrix 4: 1999 - 2020
Warner Bros. has recently been reported to be producing the fourth episode of The Matrix, where Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will resume their roles as Neo and Trinity. So far, we do not know if this movie will be a sequel, an adaptation or a reboot of the trilogy with new characters.
The first Matrix was released in 1999, followed by two other components: Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions in 2003. The fourth installment is due out in 2020.

    9. Mortal Kombat
The adaptation of the film Mortal Kombat of 1995 is in production, and the recording will start at the end of 2019. For now, the main plot is still unknown, but we know that there will be a lot of deaths, it's is why the film will be reserved for an informed public. The only currently confirmed actor is Indonesian Joe Taslim, who will play Sub-Zero. The film will be released in the summer of 2021.

    10. Claws of the night: 1984 - date to be confirmed
The New Line Cinema production company will be working on an adaptation of the original 1984 film, which is expected to come out in the coming years. They hired screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who will also take care of the upcoming The Conjuring and Aquaman. Also, actor Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) suggested to Kevin Bacon to interpret the role that made him famous.
